
From May 29 to June 2, the 25th National University Student Robot Competition - RoboMaster 2026 Super Regional Tournament (Northern Division) was held at the Liu Changchun Gymnasium of NEU. After 5 days of fierce competition among 32 mecha teams from universities across the country, the Zhonghong TDT Team of NEU won the championship. The I Hiter Team of Harbin Institute of Technology won the runner-up title, the HERO Team of Harbin Institute of Technology (Weihai) won third place, and the WMJ Team of Northwestern Polytechnical University finished fourth. Ten teams, including the Dream Chaser Team of Beijing Institute of Technology, qualified for the National Finals. Four teams, including the Qiqi Team of Shandong University of Technology, advanced to the Wild Card Round.
Since its establishment in 2013, the RoboMaster Competition has long been committed to cultivating scientific and technological innovation talents and has built a robot competition and academic exchange platform. It has attracted a total of 941 institutions of higher learning from 18 countries and regions around the world to participate and has cultivated more than 200,000 young engineers for the industry. Yang Minghui stated that the organizers will continue to deepen cooperation with universities and focus on cultivating innovative talents. He expressed the hope that this event will further promote regional industry-education integration, empower local scientific and technological innovation, and encourage participating students to rely on the competition platform to pursue research and innovation, thereby supporting the high-quality development of the domestic robot industry.

RoboMaster is a highly influential comprehensive robot competition in China. It was initiated by DJI Innovations in 2013 and was first held in 2015. The competition integrates multiple technological disciplines, including machine vision, embedded system design, and mechanical control, and adopts an esports-style confrontation format. It aims to cultivate young engineering talents. After more than ten years of development and ten seasons of competitions, RoboMaster has become a top-tier event among disciplinary competitions in Chinese universities.
