Recently, the National Office for Philosophy and Social Sciences officially announced the List of Projects approved under the 2025 National Social Science Fund Special Program for Research on the Preservation and Transmission of Cultural Heritage. The project titled “Research on the 'Two Integrations' and the Comprehensive Enhancement of the Preservation and Transmission of Cultural Heritage,” proposed by Professor Zhang Yannan’s team at NEU, has been successfully approved for funding. In 2025, only 20 projects were approved nationwide. Professors Zhang Yannan, Ma Lin, Zhou Rong, and others, in collaboration with experts and scholars from NEU, Liaoning University, the Liaoning Provincial Cultural Heritage Preservation Center and other institutions, integrated theoretical achievements and practical experience from multiple fields—including cultural heritage preservation, Marxist theory, folklore studies, and public administration—and became the first team in Liaoning Province to have such a project approved. The team has long been dedicated to research on the preservation and transmission of cultural heritage. In recent years, it has undertaken more than 50 research projects funded by the National Social Science Fund, the National Art Fund, and other sources, as well as published over 30 books and more than 100 papers in core journals such as A&HCI, SSCI, SCI, and CSSCI. Many of these achievements have been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Wenhua Award (China’s Government Award for Culture and Arts), the “Five-One Project” Award from the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the highest award for literary and artistic criticism in China, and the China Folk Literature and Art Mountain Flower Award, laying a solid academic foundation for the project’s implementation.
