The 7th National Youth Geology Conference, hosted by the Geological Society of China and co-organized by the Youth Work Committee of the Geological Society of China, Shenyang Center of the China Geological Survey, NEU and other units, was held in Shenyang, Liaoning Province from April 25 to 29. The conference, with the theme of "Earth Sciences for the Future", attracted more than 1,000 representatives from over 300 institutions across the country.
Wei Yanguang, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Geological Society of China, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Nine experts, including Academician Liu Jiaqi from the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, attended the conference. Liu Jiaqi, Xu Xing, Wang Denghong, Didenko Aeksei, a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Xiong Shengqing, a researcher from the Center for Aerial Geophysical Prospecting and Remote Sensing of Natural Resources, Xu Wenliang, a professor from Jilin University, and Sun Ge, a professor from Shenyang Normal University, respectively delivered keynote forum reports. At the opening ceremony, a collective book donation ceremony of Annals of Mineral Geology in China was also held, presenting books to relevant units such as NEU. During the conference, 482 academic report exchanges were made on 29 topics, including basic geological research and energy and resource security.
It is reported that the Department of Geology of the School of Resources and Civil Engineering of NEU, as the main organizer of the conference, has mobilized all its teachers and students to actively participate in volunteer services to ensure the smooth convention of the conference. Chen Jiafu, Director of the Department of Geology, was awarded the Special Contribution Award, and 15 teachers and students were honored as outstanding volunteers. Furthermore, 20 young teachers and student representatives were invited to give reports on various topics, demonstrating the scientific research strength and academic style of the School's geology discipline with their solid specialty competence and cutting-edge achievements.
