Recently, the evaluation results for the 2026 Metallurgical Science and Technology Award were announced, with 27 achievements from NEU receiving awards. Among them, the university led the project that won 1 Special Prize, and led or served as the first completing entity for 3 First Prizes. Following its historic breakthrough in leading a Special Prize win in the previous year, the university once again led the winning of a Special Prize, demonstrating that NEU’s innovative contributions to the metallurgical industry are highly recognized by industry experts.
It is reported that the Metallurgical Science and Technology Award was jointly initiated and established by the China Iron and Steel Association and the Chinese Society for Metals to promote technological progress and scientific innovation in the metallurgical industry, representing the highest science and technology award in China’s metallurgical sector. A total of 154 winning projects were selected for the 2026 Metallurgical Science and Technology Award, including 2 Special Prizes, 32 First Prizes, 43 Second Prizes, and 77 Third Prizes.
