Graduation Ceremony of the First Indonesian Master’s Program Class in Metallurgical Engineering under the “Huayou Cobalt–Indonesian Government–NEU” Partnership Held in Indonesia

On August 1, the graduation ceremony for the first Indonesian Master’s Program Class in Metallurgical Engineering jointly organized by “Huayou Cobalt–Indonesian Government–NEU” was held at the Huafei Base in Indonesia, marking the successful graduation of the first cohort of 26 Indonesian master’s students. Chen Wu, Counselor of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Indonesia; Diah and Jaka, representatives from the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development of Indonesia; Xu Wei, Vice President of NEU; Zhang Bing, Vice President of Technology at Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt; and Wei Linkui, Assistant to the President of Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt Indonesia Nickel Industry Group, attended the graduation ceremony.

In his speech, Xu Wei stated that the successful graduation of the first batch of students marks a closed loop of covering selection and admission, talent cultivation, and localized employment for NEU’s joint Indonesian master’s program in metallurgical engineering. Chen Wu noted that this graduation ceremony witnessed the achievements of the tripartite cooperation among “government, enterprises, and universities” of China and Indonesia, providing a vivid case study for exploring how government, university and enterprise stakeholders can better play their respective roles in education-for- industry initiatives..

In her speech, Diah stated that the joint talent cultivation project contributes significant strength to talent development and the future progress of Indonesia’s metallurgical sector.

Zhang Bing expressed that the successful graduation of the project’s inaugural class marks the success of the government-enterprise-university joint cultivation model. He expressed hope that the graduates will serve as bridges in the future to promote teamwork and development between China and Indonesia.

At the ceremony, Professor Dou Zhihe, Dean of the School of Metallurgy and faculty representative of NEU, and Daud Manatap Sitorus, representative of the first cohort of graduates, delivered speeches. Bao Nisha, Dean of the School of International Education, Zhu Wancheng, Dean of the School of Resources and Civil Engineering, and Dou Zhihe, Dean of the School of Metallurgy at NEU, presented graduation certificates and degree certificates to the graduates of the inaugural program.
