President Zhao Ji of Northeastern University attended the 5th ASEM Rectors’ Conference and Students’ Forum

President ZhaoJi attended 5th ASEM Rectors’ Conference and Students’ Forum in CzechRepublic recently, and gave a speech entitled “Build training system guided byinnovation and entrepreneurship education”. He introduced the historicaldevelopment and school-running characteristics of Northeastern University (NEU)briefly, and then shared NEU’s experience of building innovation andentrepreneurship education system and cultivating innovative entrepreneurialtalents with other representatives participated in the conference.

During themeeting, delegation of NEU exchanged ideas with other universities includingCharles University in Prague, Aleksandras Stulginskis University, AristotleUniversity, University of Porto, and Universiti Brunei Darussalam, etc., andreached agreements of inter-university cooperation.

The ASEMRectors’ Conference and Students’ Forum (ARC) is a bi-annual conference seriesthat has been recognised as an Official Dialogue Partner of the ASEM EducationMinisters’ Meeting (ASEM ME). The past editions of ARC have brought togetherhundreds of Asian and European student, university and business leaders forsolution-oriented discussions on emerging higher education issues concerningboth regions.

Themed “Employability:Asia and Europe Prepare the New Generation”, the 5th ASEM Rectors’Conference and Students’ Forum (ARC5) focuses on employability skills. Withincreased demands from the labour market, young people need to be equipped witha more flexible, innovative and specialist skillset. Cooperation betweenuniversities and businesses can provide students with the necessary skills andcompetences, and help them better prepare for the labour market.
